The Syrian Democratic Council

Elham Ahmed in the eighth dialogue seminar: the Self-Administration is a purely national case and there are no intentions to form a separate region as it is promoted

Within the activities of the first axis in the eighth dialogue seminar held by the Syrian Democratic Council in north and east Syria, “Ilham Ahmed”, the president of the executive committee of SDC, said that the Self- Administration is a national case and there is no truth to what it is promoting about the possibility of forming a separate Kurdish region similar to Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Ahmed attributed the concerns expressed by our brothers in the homeland, and even our partners in the national track led by SDC, about forming a separate region, is due to lack of consensus among the Syrians and the dependence of some of them on Turkish agendas that promote this idea in full swing in order to incite the Syrian public opinion and search for arguments and pretexts to occupy more Syrian lands.

The international and domestic “non-consensus” has ruled the situation so far

Ahmed said during her speech at the beginning of the eighth dialogue seminar in the city of Qamishlo, in the east of the country, that what happened to the situation in Syria was due to the absence of consensus among Syrians, multiplicity of opposition platforms and the interference of regional countries, led by the Turkish state, which implements aggressive and expansionist projects throughout the region. The other reason mentioned by Ahmed, for prolonging the duration of the Syrian crisis; is the difference of the countries involved in the Syrian file, and each party’s keenness to implement its vision and secure its interests that contradict the interests of other countries that compete with it in winning the battle and impose its vision of the mechanism and timing of the solution.
Ahmed added that the international meetings, their course have been distorted and have become milestones, cost the Syrians more blood, destruction and pain of forcible displacement. The Geneva meeting or the international track depend on the consensus of international parties more than the Syrian consensus in the matter, in addition to the selectivity of representatives of the Syrian people and their social and political formations.
As for Astana track, and over the course of its series of meetings, it was more painful for the Syrians, leaving tragedies that will have long-lasting effects.
In the end, the state of “non-consensus” at local and international levels and the absence of a clear road map for a comprehensive and final solution was the cause of multiplicity of platforms and prolonging of the Syrian crisis, and thus the continuation of the Syrian bleeding.

Adhering to the exclusionary mentality blew up the dialogue with the government

The President of the Executive Committee of SDC highlighted the efforts made by the Syrian Democratic Council and the Self- Administration during the previous phase of the dialogue with the Syrian government, believing in the importance and necessity of dialogue to end crises and national issues, but as “Ahmed” said that the meetings that took place between them and the Syrian government did not rise to the level of “dialogue” Rather, the meetings clashed with the government’s intransigence and its adoption of the same mentality that led to the revolution of the Syrian people ten years ago.
She continued that the delegations of the Self- Administration and SDC to start the dialogue with the Syrian government according to national agendas by us, were met by rejection of the government and it continued with its usual handling of the core national issues, despite this, we showed the required flexibility, but tyranny and rejection of the other were the most prominent feature of the government’s approach to dialogue with the Self- Administration Self and SDC.
“Ahmed” added that despite this, we have not canceled the possibility of dialogue with the Syrian government, and the “door is still open” for dialogue according to national agendas and far from “racist” approaches and descriptions for a Syrian party. The Self- Administration and SDC provided /11 000/ martyrs to defend Syria and protect it from terror and occupation.

There is no escape from dialogue among the Syrians

Ahmed renewed the importance of adopting dialogue to resolve crises and issues, a path that has long been sought by SDC, in order to adopt it as a national approach to resolving disputes, and it is an inevitable alternative to resolving the complex Syrian crisis. In the course of the dialogue with the opposition, the President of the Executive Committee, of SDC, stressed the need for Syrians in their various formations to agree on close visions and be the starting point for a comprehensive solution to the crisis in the country.
On the efforts of SDC to unify the democratic opposition, “Ahmed” said that the meetings held by SDC during the years 2018 and 2019, and later the dialogue workshops in European capitals and cities with the democratic opposition, and the understandings that took place with the opposition platforms, in addition to these seminars, are aimed at building national consensus and forming a solid ground for the Syrian democratic powers.
Ahmed added that the forces that have contributed to the bloodshed of the Syrians and the support of the Turkish occupier by occupying the lands of their country and displacing its people and has become dependent on Turkey, its agendas and its aggressive policy towards the peoples of the region, it is difficult for them to acquiesce in a national dialogue with a purely national agenda since they lost their decision and became a mere tool in the hands of the Turkish occupier.
With regard to the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue and its importance in the course of the national dialogue, “Ahmed” said that the steps taken by this dialogue are very important for the benefit of the Syrian dialogue as a whole. It is / that is, the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue /serves the national situation and enhances political awareness in a region that has always been marginalized and neglected before by tyrannical Syrian authorities and was excluded from political life in the country with all its components: Kurds, Arabs or the rest of the components in the region.
At the end of her speech, “Ahmed” asked the participants to present proposals and recommendations on what has been accomplished so far, both in the political aspect and in relation to the dialogues and understandings that took place and the relationships that SDC and the Self- Administration weave in order to protect the gains of the Syrian people and accomplish their revolution, or at the administrative level and criticize the performance of administration institutions in order to develop it, expand the circle of participation and make recommendations that will be presented at the end of the fourteen seminars to the National Conference of the People of al-Jazeera and al-Forat.
