The delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council met with prominent members and representatives of the US Congress in Washington, DC, to discuss the Syrian file and the issues of combating terrorism and stability in Syria.
In this context, the “SDC” delegation met with Senator Christopher Van Hollen who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Congresswoman Lois Frankel who is a member of the Budget Specialization Committee, and Congressman Adam Smith, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives “Congress”.
The meetings were positive, during which the “SDC” delegation and the Autonomous Administration, headed by Mrs. Ilham Ahmed, head of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, discussed the overall Syrian crisis and the importance of the American role in finding a comprehensive settlement for the Syrian file in accordance with international resolutions, foremost of which is Security Council Resolution 2254.
For their part, US officials renewed their support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their war against terrorism, stressing the need to support the presence of their country’s forces in Syria and their partnership with the “SDF” until a sustainable political solution is reached in Syria.
The meetings took place after meetings and dialogues held by the “SDC” delegation with the US Department of State and White House officials while the Syrian Democratic Council and the Autonomous Administration were conducting an official visit to the United States of America.
