Thubiya al-Nasser, administrator of the Women’s Bureau in the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), stated that the late Havrin Khalaf was a symbol of Syrian women striving to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people through political action.
Al-Nasser added that martyrs sent a clear message to the world, that they sacrified their lives to achieve peace, freedom, and dignity for their country.
That was during the Havrin Khalaf Peace Festival sponsored by the Future Syria Party, held on Saturday. The event witnessed a large gathering of party members in the region, representatives by the Autonomous Administrations, civilian and military bodies, and the notable presence of Nadine Maenza, the Chairwoman of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF). The event also included representatives by the Martyrs’ Families Foundation and members of political powers in Raqqa.
Regarding the Turkish attacks, al-Nasser pointed out that these attacks target innocent civilians, their workplaces, and the infrastructure that provides services to them, violating all international and humanitarian norms and conventions.
The Women’s Bureau urged the international community and guarantor states to play an effective role in stopping these fierce attacks on Syrians and their properties by enforcing the implement of Resolution 2254.
Al-Nasser continued, expressing that the SDC believes in the unity of Syrians by all components across the Syrian territories, with the blessing of the martyrs’ blood, and the continued efforts to achieve the desired democratic transition.
Several speeches were delivered during the Festival by political parties, Autonomous Administration, martyrs’ families, and the Zenobiya Women’s Association. The event was featured with poetic recitations by local poets praising the sacrifices of the martyrs and commending the peace advocate Havrin Khalaf.
In conclusion, Mrs. Nadine Maenza reviewed some of the experiences she encountered during her visit to this region in Syria, and honorary shields and pictures were presented to the mothers of the martyrs Havrin Khalaf and Ferhad Ramadan.
