Outcomes of Development and Consolidation of Cooperation Conference in Deir ez-Zor

The conference entitled “Enhancing Security and Stability Towards Development and Consolidation of Cooperation in Dei ez-Zor” resulted in several key outcomes that included the restructuring of local, legislative, and executive councils, as well as municipalities. The conference also emphasized the adoption of technocratic principles, the improvement of the service and economic situation, and the reorganization of Internal Security Forces and the Military Council of Deir ez-Zor. These changes should be implemented within a maximum timeframe of six months.

Those were highlighted in the concluding statement of the national conference, attended by tribal leaders, civil society activists, administrators, and some residents of Deir ez-Zor and its surrounding areas. The conference also witnessed the participation of Ilham Ahmad, the Co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), as well as delegations by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), political parties, civil institutions, and the military ones.

The conference was organized after several mass meetings held by the SDC and the AANES with a wide range of social, cultural, and feminist figures in Deir ez-Zor, including farmers and peasants.

The purpose of the conference was to listen to the opinions of the local population regarding the development of civil administration in Deir ez-Zor and the enhancement of security in the region.
The conference’s agenda covered an explanation of the political situation, reading of a report by the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council, discussions on various issues, service matters, economic development, and emphasizing the importance of the agricultural sector through participants’ responses.

The conference also resulted in recommendations and outcomes, which were presented in a concluding statement read by Saja al-Huwaidi, an administrator in the civil society institutions of Deir ez-Zor. Participants at the conference reaffirmed their commitment to combating all plans and conspiracies targeting the region, aiming to sow a discord among the tribes and components of the region. The participants expressed their determination to confront external schemes and build a democratic society based on coexistence within this part of Syrian territory.
