Raqqa’s tribal leaders extend congratulations to the SDC on Eid al-Fitr

A delegation of Raqqa’s tribal leaders extended congratulations and well wishes to the Co-chairs of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. The meeting took place on Monday at the SDC’s headquarters in Raqqa city, northern Syria.

The visiting delegation was received by Layla Qaraman, Co-chairwoman of the SDC, along with Jihan Khedro, Head of the SDC’s Women’s Office, and Rajab al-Mushrif, a member of the SDC’s Relations Office. Also, Berivan Hassan, a member of the SDC’s General Council, and Thubiya al-Nasser, a member of the SDC’s Advisory Office, welcomed the delegation.

The visiting delegation included Sheikh Fares al-Houran, Leader of al-Fad’an tribe, Sheikh Ramadan al-Rahhal, Leader of al-Ali tribe, and Sheikh Saeed al-Boursan, Leader of the al-Walda tribe, as well as other Sheikhs, tribal leaders and members of the Council of Notables in Raqqa.

Qaraman welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the crucial role of tribal leaders in preserving the national cohesion, civil peace, and ensuring security and stability in the region, along with their historical heritage.

She underscored the need for all Syrians to unite their efforts and enhance the tribe’s role nationally, aiming for establishing a democratic, pluralistic and decentralized Syria.

On the other hand, Sheikh al-Rahhal affirmed the significance of the SDC’s role inside Syria and abroad. He also expressed an appreciation for the sacrifices made by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the fight against terrorism.

During discussions, both sides addressed the political situation in Syria and stressed the importance of engaging with Arab countries through a comprehensive Syrian national dialogue, guided by the SDC’s path.
