SDC holds a meeting with powers from NW Syria to discuss political developments

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held on July 5 a meeting with representatives of the Free Nationals Party, the Green Idlib Council, and the Political Body of Western Euphrates. Also, representatives of the Revolutionary Popular Resistance, and the women’s and youth offices of the aforementioned political blocs participated in the meeting.

Layla Qaraman, Co-chairwoman of the SDC, chaired the meeting in the presence of members of the SDC’s Presidential Body.

The meeting focused on discussing the latest political developments, the situation and recent events in the region of Western Euphrates. It addressed the rapprochement between Turkey and the authority in Damascus and its repercussions on the Syrian people in general. Additionally, it discussed the racist violations against Syrian refugees in Turkey and the IDPs in northern Syria.

Qaraman presented an overview of the latest political developments and reaffirmed the SDC’s unwavering stance on the importance of the intra-Syrian dialogue.

Also, Qaraman emphasized the need for Syrian unity and a shared vision for a political solution that addresses the aspirations of all Syrians for freedom, dignity, and self-determination. She underscored the significance of issuing a political resolution to the ongoing conflict by Syrians not by external entities.

The participants in the meeting reiterated the key points outlined in the SDC’s recent statement. They emphasized the crucial need for Syrian unity in light of ongoing developments. Also, they underscored a political solution aligned with UN Resolutions, particularly Resolution 2254. This solution must pave the way for democratic change and fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people in building a brighter future for Syria.
