SDC’s Relations Office holds a dialogue seminar in Manbij

The Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held on Thursday a dialogue seminar in Manbij city, northern Syrian. Holding that seminar served as a part of strengthening the Syrian national dialogue.

The seminar addressed the importance of shared values and the national consensus among Syrians. Around 50 intellectuals, academics, independent figures, and representatives of civil society institutions participated in the seminar.

Berivan Hassan, a member of the SDC’s General Council, moderated the seminar. Also, the seminar witnessed an active participation by members of the SDC’s Presidential Body and a group of national figures.

Ali Rahmoun, Deputy of the SDC’s Co-chairman, commenced the seminar by delivering a speech. Rahmoun stressed the need to form a national action committee specifically for independent figures. He emphasized the importance of outlining basic principles that can be agreed by all Syrians. He considered those principles starting points for building a cohesive society and a country that embraces all Syrian components.

Hassan Muhammad Ali, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Relations Office, discussed the strategy of these committees and their focus on common ground to achieve consensus. Muhammad Ali emphasized that the committee’s principles include:
– The unity of Syria as a land and people.
– The neutrality of the state towards religion and ethnicity.
– Implementing the decentralization.
– Syrians should benefit from the resources in their country.

The seminar witnessed diverse discussions. The participants expressed their agreement on these principles and called for the national dialogue among Syrians.

The Participants presented several proposals, including a call for the formation of committees to strengthen relations with various parties inside Syria and abroad. They underscored the need for the SDC to be the main platform in international forums.

The seminar concluded with an emphasis on the importance of the intra-Syrian dialogue, strengthening national values, and reshaping the inclusive national identity. Additionally, the participants called for the formation of a national action committee in Manbij, with a focus on implementing the proposals within the available capabilities.

This seminar is considered an important step towards the Syrian national dialogue process. Also, it reflects the efforts made to find common ground among various Syrian parties under the current circumstances.
