Layla Qaraman, Co-chairwoman of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), met on Friday, July 12, with prominent figures and community activists from Afrin city, Aleppo, at the SDC’s office in Raqqa.
Mustafa Othman, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Relations Office in Raqqa, participated in the meeting. The participants in the meeting discussed the major challenges facing Afrin in various fields. Also, they emphasized how the people of Afrin could preserve their national identity and strengthen their resilience.
Additionally, Qaraman discussed the latest political developments on both local and international levels. She particularly pointed out the racial abuses faced by Syrian refugees in Turkey. She also noted the violations and crimes committed by Turkey and its mercenaries in northern Syria, especially in Afrin.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants expressed their hopes that all efforts made will lead to the safe and peaceful return of refugees, displaced persons, and forcibly displaced individuals, particularly the people of Afrin, to their homes. They also expressed their aspirations for establishing a modern Syria, that will ensure security, freedom, and dignity for all Syrians.
