The president of the executive committee of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, denied reports by some media affiliated with the Turkish state and Syrian regime about the intention of the components of north and east of Syria to secede or attempts to divide the country, after their representatives were excluded from participating in the constitutional committee.
\nIn an interview with “al-Hurra Website” in Washington, the head of the executive committee, Ilham Ahmed, said that the process of excluding representatives of north and east of Syria from participating in drafting of a new constitution for the country within the constitutional committee will have dire consequences on the future of the political process.
\nAhmed pointed out to submission of the international community and the influential powers in the Syrian file, to Turkish state which objected to the participation of the Syrian Democratic Council and Self-Administration in the constitutional committee and put a “veto” on their participation, making the components of north and east of Syria feel as if Turkey is ” mistress of the world.”
\nAhmad also blamed the international community which considers a part of Syrians as the legitimate representative of the Syrian opposition, while on the ground this part has a limited impact compared to Self-Administratuons regions of north and east of Syria.
\n Ahmad continued that the opposition in its entirety does not have an opinion because it is dependent and subordinate. However, it is the main addressee in the political process, and this will have negative repercussions on drafting of a new constitution for the country, warning of the increasing of Syrian regime impact on the next constitution.
\nAs for the security plan, Ahmed said they had implemented the first stage of the agreement, where trenches were filled and withdrawal of troops were executed, but Turkey is still doing the escalation in the region.
\nShe said that Turkey’s goal of escalation and movement is not because of Ankara’s concerns for its national security, as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterates, pointing out that Turkey’s objective was and continues to expand and control of Syrian territory, as it did in the Syrian region of Afrin.
\nThe president of the Executive Committee Ilham Ahmed, concluded her dialogue by stressing that the Syrian Democratic Council seeks to bring democratic change to be a new system that leads the country towards decentralization and democracy.
\nAhmed was a guest at a round table in Washington, DC, yesterday morning. She assured in front of the audience that ISIS still exists in the region, and that sleeper cells remain a threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
