On Saturday, the Finnish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Pekka Haavisto, received a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council at the Foreign Ministry building in the capital Helsinki yesterday, where they discussed means of a political settlement for the Syrian crisis and many bilateral files.<\/strong>
\nThe \u201cSDC\u201d delegation included the chairwoman of the Executive Body, Ilham Ahmed, and the co-chair of the Local Administration and Environment Authority of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting members discussed how to advance the political process and achieve a progress in the path of settling the Syrian crisis in accordance with international resolutions, and the role of the Republic of Finland regarding this matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The humanitarian file and the entering of aid were important parts of the meeting of the Finnish Foreign Ministry with SDC, where the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to the regions of North and East Syria across borders, and it should be a comprehensive distribution of aid over the entire Syrian regions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Within the files discussed by the two sides are the file of the practices of Turkey and its mercenaries in the occupied areas and their threats to the lives of the population in the regions of North and East Syria by cutting the waters of more than a million people and cutting the flow of the Euphrates River, where Minister Haavisto stressed the need for the United Nations to move forward regarding this file.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the two sides’ review of the model of Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, the Finnish Foreign Minister expressed his country’s admiration for the progress achieved by this part of Syria, specifically regarding the role of women, their empowerment and their great participation in all fields.<\/strong>
\nThe education sector and the teaching curricula of the Autonomous Administration were discussed in the meeting that brought together \u201cSDC\u201d with the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, where they discussed methods to work on developing the educational sector in North and East Syria, leading to official recognition of the curricula approved by international institutions concerned with education.<\/strong>
\nalong with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the SDC delegation met with the Finnish Special Envoy, Ambassador Jussi Tanner, many Finnish deputies, politicians and institutions of interest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Republic of Finland is considered as one of the countries interested in the file of combating terrorism, addressing its effects and supporting stability in the regions of North and East Syria, where a delegation from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs headed by Envoy Jussi Tanner had previously visited the regions of North and East Syria, in December 2020, during which the delegation members met with \u201cSDC\u201d and officials of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Autonomous Administration.<\/strong><\/p>\n
