This comes at a highly sensitive moment that requires the utmost wisdom and restraint from all parties. In this context, the SDC expresses grave concern over the shelling carried out by forces affiliated with the Interim Government (Transitional Authority), which targeted the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh in the city of Aleppo. The use of heavy weapons in these attacks resulted in the injury of seventeen civilians and the killing of a woman. This constitutes a serious violation that endangers the lives of residents and threatens the safety of their property.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Placing the protection of civilians at the top of its priorities, the SDC strongly condemns these attacks. It considers them unacceptable conduct that runs counter to the requirements of stability and civil peace.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What occurred represents a clear breach of existing understandings, foremost among them the April 1 Agreement concerning the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. That agreement was established to spare civilians from harm, prevent escalation, and ensure that outstanding issues are addressed through disciplined and mutually agreed mechanisms. Any violation of these arrangements not only jeopardizes the security of the targeted neighborhoods, but also negatively affects broader efforts to consolidate calm and prevent the expansion of tensions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The SDC further stresses the necessity of full and serious adherence to the March 10 Agreement signed between the Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This agreement constitutes a national framework aimed at regulating relations between the parties, reducing tensions, and establishing a balanced political and military path that serves the broader interests of Syrians. Upholding this agreement is a fundamental step toward building trust and preventing the use of force as a means of resolving disputes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Under these circumstances, the SDC underscores the importance of addressing internal national issues and matters through an independent Syrian will. This must be done away from any external agendas that neither serve the country\u2019s unity nor reflect the aspirations of its people. The interference of external actors in Syria\u2019s internal affairs only makes the situation more complex and prolongs existing crises. By contrast, responsible national dialogue and adherence to existing understandings remain the most effective path to resolving disputes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Furthermore, the SDC reiterates its firm commitment to the priority of a comprehensive political solution. It also reaffirms its adherence to the unity of Syrian territory and its unequivocal rejection of chaos and violence. In this regard, it emphasizes its vision for the integration of the SDF, in accordance with the March 10 agreement, within a broader process of building a unified national army. Such an army must be founded on an inclusive national doctrine, free from exclusion or retribution, and capable of guaranteeing equal protection for all Syrians.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Accordingly, the SDC calls on all parties, foremost among them the Interim Government, to uphold the signed understandings. It urges all parties to put Syria\u2019s highest national interest above everything else and work together to protect civilians and consolidate de-escalation. It also emphasizes the need to support a national political process that can guide Syria toward stability. This process should lay the groundwork for rebuilding the state on fair and inclusive foundations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The SDC extends its deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs.
