Ilham Ahmed meets with the Foreign Minister and Swedish government officials

The Head of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council Ilham Ahmed met with Swedish Foreign Minister “Anne Lindy” in the Swedish capital Stockholm to discuss the repercussions of the Turkish aggression on the areas of north and east of Syria. The delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council also included the representative of self-administration in Sweden, Shiar Ali and the member of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council Ali Rahmon. The Executive Chairman of the Executive Committee, Ilham Ahmed conveyed to the Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Lindy the danger of Turkish invasion of safe and populated areas of civilians in north and east of Syria.
Ahmad said :”The record of violations and crimes of the Turkish state and its mercenaries in north of Syria, especially in Afrin region, puts the international community in front of its responsibilities to stop the Turkish aggression on north and east of Syria”
During her meeting with the Swedish minister, Ahmad highlighted the nature of the areas of north and east of Syria, which include more than five million people and host hundreds of thousands of displaced people from different Syrian regions. She continued that the Turkish aggression undermines the chances of stability in the region, especially the areas of north and east of Syria detain thousands of members of the terrorist organization ISIS with their families in special places, adding that the protection of those detention camps is the responsibility of the SDF and self-administration. The last Turkish aggression may lead to setting free of these members.
For her part, the Swedish Foreign Minister Anne Lindy” regretted and considered what the Turkish state is doing as “occupation”. She continued that the fighters who fought on behalf of the world against the organization which was threatening peace and security around the world, should have been protected.
Minister Lindy also said that they are working with their European Union partners to keep pressure on Turkish state and ban military dealings with it to end its aggression on north and east of Syria.
On the humanitarian side, the Swedish Foreign Minister confirmed that they will work to provide urgent financial and humanitarian support, especially after the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people from their places as a result of bombing and Turkish aggression.
Executive Chairman Ilham Ahmed has called upon the Swedish government to impose a no-fly zone on north and east of Syria and to establish a humanitarian corridor to bring urgent humanitarian aid to conflict areas.
The meeting was followed by a press conference of the delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council, which was attended by Swedish and European media. The delegation of SDC answered the pressmen’s questions which were about the Turkish aggression, the humanitarian case and the vision of SDC for future of Syria
