bhzad janNine years have passed since the conflict and the ongoing war in Syria, which cost the Syrian people hundreds of thousands of martyrs, victims, hundreds of thousands of wounded and millions of displaced refugees in dozens of countries around the world. In the years of the crisis, the Syrian people were subjected to many conspiracies and deals aimed at its security, stability and political will. Many countries have contributed in continuation of sufferings of Syrians and prolonging the crisis because of international and regional conflict of interests. In light of all these external challenges, the biggest challenge for the Syrians was the emergence of terrorist organizations inside Syria, the most dangerous of which is the terrorist organization ISIS, which dominated more than half of the Syrian geographyr. So, such terrorist organization should have been eliminated as the most dangerous terrorist phenomenon in the world. The Syrian territory has become a base for launching terrorist operations around the world. The people of the region had played a great role in fighting terrorism and organizing their powers within Syria Democratic Forces which could create an environment and incubator that saved thousands of young people from the threat of terrorist and sectarian organizations, as well as the Self-Administration represented an important gain for Syrians in north and east of Syria.
Turkey’s threats continued against fighting terrorism, clearly targeting the region’s original components, displacing indigenous people in the areas it occupied, and instead of international community take firm positions, the White House once again agreed to Turkey’s occupation of north and east Syria, withdrawing of its military forces, abandoning its responsibilities in war on terrorism and leaving the region open to dangerous possibilities that will have serious implications on fighting against terrorism that will have a profound impact on political situation and international endeavors to end the crisis and its political solution. Such things will lead other regional parties to increase its presence in the crisis.
We have relied from the beginning in our political project on the popular will of our people and have devoted the values of coexistence and brotherhood among all components, Arabs, Kurds, Syrians, Assyrians, Turkmen and Armenians. Our main and most important bet remains the will of the Syrian people, their components and their determination to live in dignity in a democratic Syria free from any occupation.
We have always stressed that our position towards dialogue with various parties is strategic, and we have done everything necessary for diplomacy to resolve the dispute with Turkey, most recently the implementation of the security mechanism agreement, which expressed the true will of the Syria Democratic Forces to bring peace to the region.
We continue to take all necessary steps at diplomatic level and activate channels of dialogue with various international parties concerned in the Syrian file to stop this aggression, to avoid our people the dangers of any military clash, and not to fail in carrying out their responsibilities. We also support the decision of SDF to defend our borders and our people against any aggression. We clearly affirm that Turkey will not be able to impose its control on ISIS elements and their families in the region.
We in the Syrian Democratic Council reject in the strongest terms, the Turkish plans to occupy the region, calling upon the international community to stand seriously against this dangerous development and we affirm that the White House decision in this regard undermines all war efforts against ISIS, we also call upon the United Nations and the Security Council to stand with more responsibility towards people of this region and protecting them from Turkish plans targeting their historical presence on their soil .We assure that any Turkish attack will lead to a humanitarian catastrophe and a large wave of displacement for safe people of the region.
We affirm that the Syrian people, including all components, reject Turkish occupation and have long suffered from Turkish policies and general regional interventions. We believe that the people of Syria are called today more than ever to carry out their historical responsibilities towards security of their country and reject conspiracies targeting their political will.
