The Syrian Democratic Council

Congratulations on the feast of Akito

The Syrian Democratic Council, SDC, presents the warmest congratulations and blessings to our sisters, brothers, our Assyrian sons, the Chaldeans and Syriacs in Syria and the world on the occasion of the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year, Akito, which is on April 1 of every year.
Feast of Akito embodies the rich diversity of our country, Syria, and is considered one of the most prominent expressions of the historical and civilizational identity of the peoples of the region, who, like the rest of the Syrian people and their components, have suffered during the past decades from the policies of exclusion, discrimination and marginalization from the ruling authorities. We hope that the coming feasts will return in times of security and stability, after ending the occupation, terrorism and tyranny. Also, we hope to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for a democratic, pluralistic, decentralized state that embraces all identities that enrich and reinforce the unifying national identity.

Happy New Year
