The Syrian Democratic Council

“As Syrians, we still have an opportunity for consensus and finding resolutions” Ilham Ahmed said

Ilham Ahmed, the Chairwoman of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council said there still is an opportunity for Syrians for consensus and finding a method to emerge from the crisis and build a united Syria on civilized basics.

Mrs. Ilham’s speech was made during her participation in a consultative forum in the city of Raqqa at the invitation of the Preparatory Committee for the conference of Democratic Powers and Figures.

Ahmed praised the role of democratic powers, which if they come together, they will form a new situation regarding the Syrian crisis after the state of fragmentation and division suffered by the Syrian parties.

”A large percentage of Syrians agree on a political resolution in Syria, but these voices are powerless, so they must be united in terms of change to end the dominance of regional powers and end tyranny in Syria,” she added.

“The political process in Syria has been completed and the path of the constitutional committee stopped after the Russian-Ukrainian war and after the meeting of the Astana Group countries in Tehran and the meeting in Sochi,” regarding the political process, Ahmed said.

Regarding the rapprochement between the Turkish and Syrian regimes, the Chairwoman of the Executive Body of the SDC said that this rapprochement will be at the expense of the aspirations of the Syrian people, as Turkey has exploited the Syrian tragedy from the beginning in terms of its expansionist interests in the countries of the region, and it has even exploited the file of Syrian refugees.

She added that the intervention of international parties regarding the Syrian affairs will not contribute to ending the war in the country, noting that the resolution of the crisis in Syria will not be found by foreign parties because the countries involved in the Syrian crisis seek to preserve only their interests.

The Chairwoman of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, participated in the three Stockholm meetings that seek to develop a unified political position for national and democratic powers and figures in order to end the war and find a resolution for the crisis.
