The final statement of the Feminist Dialogue Meeting emphasizes the need for women’s participation in the political process and the drafting of a constitution that guarantees their rights

The Syrian Feminist Dialogue Meeting was organized under the title “Women and Democratic Transition in Syria” under the auspices of the Aleppo Cultural Forum, which was held over two consecutive days on October 28th-29th, 2022, which included Syrian feminist figures from various Syrian governorates, where two main themes were discussed as following:
The first theme is the inclusive Syrian national identity, and the second theme is the role of Syrian women in the democratic transition towards decentralization.

During these discussions, it was confirmed and agreed on the following matters:
1- The importance and necessity of the formation and identification of the Syrian inclusive national identity.
2- The importance of the role of women in participating in political life and public affairs.
3- The Syrian inclusive national identity is achieved and built on the principles of justice, freedom, recognition, acceptance of others and rejection of marginalization and exclusion.
4- Working hard to change societal behavior that limits the participation of Syrian women and activate their role in society.
5- The need for women’s participation in the political process and in the drafting of a Syrian constitution that guarantees their rights.
6- Decentralization is a means; it is not an end, to achieve effective governance and management, participation, democracy and necessary transparency for sustainable development and a better life for all Syrians.
7- Decentralization means the distribution of tasks and powers between the central authorities and the localities and does not mean the abolition of the central authority.
8- Emphasizing the intra–Syrian dialogue to unify visions in order to reach consensus to find resolutions and end the Syrian crisis.
9- Stressing the importance of the role of women in bringing peace and ending the state of war and occupation in Syria.
10- Intensifying the efforts of women and uniting them in supporting their issues and the issues of society.
11- The importance of the role of women in promoting social cohesion and civil peace.
