The Relations Bureau of the SDC received a delegation of the leadership of the People’s Will Party in the northeastern regions of Syria.
The delegation of the People’s Will Party included lawyer Muhammed Haj Ali, Khalaf Bero, and Abd Al-Baqi Sheikh Noor. They were received by the Co-Chair of the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, Hassan Muhammed Ali, Executive Council member Thabet Al-Jouhar, and Relations Bureau member Azhar Ahmed.
During the meeting, they discussed the current political situation, international positions regarding the Syrian issue in general, and the process of normalizing relations with the authorities in Damascus by Arab countries, and its impact on the Syrian people.
The meeting also reviewed the role of regional and international agreements and their outcomes, and the extent to which they align with UN Resolution 2254.
On August 31st, 2020, the Syrian Democratic Council and the People’s Will Party signed a memorandum of understanding, which included important provisions such as benefiting from the Autonomous Administration model and working towards establishing a decentralized democratic state.
In a related context, two delegations from Kurdish and Arab tribes separately visited the headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Council in Al-Hasakah city. During the visit, they discussed the internal situation of the northeastern regions of Syria, as well as the international and regional challenges and their impact on living and service aspects and political reality of the region in particular, including all Syrian areas.
One of the key topics of discussion was shedding light on the Turkish threats and violations in Syrian territories, which destabilize the northeastern regions of Syria at various political and economic levels, causing negative effects on the society as a whole.
The participants from the Kurdish tribal council emphasized the importance of preserving the principles of the Syrian Democratic Council, which safeguard the dignity of all Syrian citizens regardless of their affiliations, ethnicity, or religion.
The Syrian Democratic Council reaffirmed its commitment to continue its constructive struggle at the international and local levels in order to create suitable conditions that respect the rights of all components and restores their roles and positions.
