A group of Syrian youth discussed national joint workspaces during a dialogue session held by the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council on Tuesday. The session took place at the council’s headquarters in the city of Raqqa.
As the youth issue is a matter of great importance in national work due to the concerns of young people and the new economic, cultural, political, and scientific developments in society.
This session came as a response and expression of previous youth proposals.
Kamel Al-Hizber addressed the Syrian political scene, affirming that what is happening in Syria today is a deep dismantling of the country’s structure, society, economy, and the Syrian fabric as well as weakening bonds to make the country’s recovery a difficult task.
Al-Hizber emphasized that the role of civil society is crucial in preventing the social division among all Syrians inside and outside the country.
Within this framework, Yasser Karkaz, the director of the Goal Organization, raised various issues, including work policies in the current reality, the social contract, exceptional courts, and elections.
Similarly, Mahmoud Al-Hadi, the director of the Hope Makers Organization, highlighted the need to unify opinions and visions to make the youth’s opinion influential. He recalled the movements of the youth who initiated the revolution and added that the unity of ranks and the organized work by a group of Kurdish activists succeeded in exposing the practices and extremist ideology of “Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah” and putting them on the terrorism lists.
Regarding the upcoming phase, the civil activist Nawfal Khalil spoke about the region’s interest in a phase that will be led by the most organized parties, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and the establishment of a platform contributing to addressing problematic issues.
In this context, Sarferaz Shareef, an activist of the Alliance of Civil Society Organizations clarified that the role of civil society organizations is to strengthen relations between Administration and society. She emphasized that youth should be a fundamental pillar to work in safe spaces to build a new Syria.
The Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council plans to hold several dialogue sessions for youth, targeting other participants and taking their proposals into account towards the final forum.
It is worth mentioning that the Relations Bureau previously organized a dialogue session on the same topic at the Cultural Dialogue Forum in Raqqa at the end of May, which witnessed significant interaction by the attendees.
