MSDWe, as members of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), took interest in the joint announcement of the document for the three regions in Syria issued on March 8, 2024. There was another document of the Gathering of National Action in the Syria’s coastal region.
We welcome all national initiatives that aim to unify efforts made by various Syrian parties to come up with joint visions and goals. These efforts are crucial for achieving unity among political powers and working towards the desired political solution that the Syrian people aspire to. This solution aims at living with dignity, freedom, and achieving a democratic transition in Syria.
We emphasize the importance mentioned in the two documents regarding the necessity of unified collaborative work across all Syrian regions. Also, the national dialogue and the independence of Syrian decision-making are essential to end the oppressive regime, preserve rights, and affirm equal citizenship for the interests of Syrians.
Furthermore, we emphasize the importance of Syrian unity in preserving the country’s integrity. We, as Syrians, should strengthen relations among us and accept others’ opinions without exclusion. We have reaffirmed this commitment within the SDC’s goals during the Fourth Conference held under the slogan “Syrian Unity is the Basis for a Political Solution”. Our ongoing efforts aim to enhance trust among Syrian components and political powers, avoiding exclusion or marginalization. This is achieved through a direct national dialogue, ultimately leading to a political solution in accordance with international resolutions.
Regarding the document of the Gathering of National Action, there was a desire to continue coordination and national dialogue with Syrian components in other Syrian regions. We view this document as a positive matter. It aims at accepting others’ opinions, mutual recognition among Syrian components, and engaging in the national dialogue with all Syrian parties. Our goal is to end the state of division that our country faces, and build a democratic, pluralistic Syria based on a unified Syrian national identity. This vision seeks justice, freedom, and equality for our diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious society, ensuring the participation by all Syrian components in shaping their destiny.
