On Sunday, September 1st, The first dialogue forum of its kind in North and East of Syria held in the Syrian city of Tabqqa, under the slogan “We United, We won. We Will Resist to Protect” to discuss Turkish threats and the role of women in the current stage.
The forum was organized by women’s administrations in (Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij and Deir Ezzor), with the participation of female representatives of Arab tribes, members of women’s administrations and councils and representatives of political parties, as well as participation of the Women’s Office of the Syrian Democratic Council and delegations from various regions of Northern and Eastern Syria.
The forum dealt with political developments throughout Syria, specifically the ongoing Turkish threats to Northern and Eastern Syria, and discussed the role of women in the current stage.
During the Forum, several speeches were given that expressed the importance of the leading role of women in light of the historical entitlements, especially in the regions of North and East of Syria, where the struggle of women is .considered the cornerstone in achieving these victories.
In her turn, Zabbia al-Nasser, gave the speech on behalf of the Women’s Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, where she stressed that women suffered more from injustice of terrorism and tyranny in past years and noted that women in the regions of Northern and Eastern Syria came out stronger and proved their worth in leading communities.
Al-Nasser added that the Turkish threats aime at hitting the state of security and stability in our regions after being liberated by SDF from terrorism and tyranny.
Several speeches were also given by female representatives of Arab tribes, where they stressed on need to stand up against Turkish threats, preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and end all cases of occupation of Syrian territory.
They pointed to role of women in protection of civil and social peace, affirming that, as women had stood in face of terrorism, they will stand against any aggression that threatens stability and security of the region.This aggression aims at will of peoples and women.
The Forum concluded with a final statement confirming that women were the most credited in liberation of areas of Northeastern Syria, and it called upon international community, operating states, humanitarian organizations and women’s rights associations with a number of demands:
▪Firstly : The international community must not be silent regarding the violations committed by Turkish state in all occupied areas of Jarablis, al-Bab, Azaz and Afrin.
▪Secondly : Official recognition of the entity formed in Northern and Eastern Syria under the umbrella of Self-Administration and its legitimacy.
▪Thirdly: Recognition of SDF as a protector force for these areas as these forces liberated such areas from terrorism.
▪Fourthly : Formation of an international tribunal to try members of the terrorist organization ISIS in Northern and Eastern Syria for their crimes against women in particular.
▪Fifthly : Appealing to women’s organizations to show solidarity with women in Northeastern Syria and taking their experiences into consideration.
▪Sixthly : Appealing to democratic powers in the world for solidarity with the issue of the peoples and showing a position against Turkish aggression.
▪Seventhly : Emphasizing the role of women in political solution and shaping the future of Syria.
