The Self-Administration Thanks the Japanese Government and Expresses its Concern about the Arrival of the Aid

The Humanitarian Affairs Office of the Self-Administration for North and East Syria sent a letter to the Japanese government, expressing its thanks for its initiative in providing urgent aid to the regions of North and East Syria, and expressed its concern about the way of arrival of this aid.
The text of the letter sent by the Humanitarian Affairs Office of the Self-Administration for North and East Syria states:
“We thank you for your contribution and strongly encourage the repetition and increasing of this contribution, we are convinced of the importance of the role that Japan can play in supporting stability and decreasing the severity of the humanitarian crisis that our people are suffering from. In order such contribution play the role you wanted, here are our concerns :
• In accordance with Security Council Resolution / 2169 / UN agencies have introduced / 30000 / aid trucks to Syria via stipulated crossings in the aforementioned decision, and the share of North and East Syria was / 40 / trucks only during 2019.
• The total amount allocated to the humanitarian response in Syria was $ 17,000,000,000, of which only $ 1,000,000.00 arrived in North and East Syria.
The United Nations is now working to direct the response to the occupied areas of Ras Al-Ain and Tel Abyad, which raises serious concerns that the Japanese government will inadvertently contribute to legitimizing the occupation and support procedures for demographic change that we trust you ( Japan) reject it.
• The Syrian government did not not provide any form of assistance to the displaced people of Tal Abyad and Ras Al-Ain, but issued direct instructions to Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Office / OCHA / not to assist the displaced people in the camps or provide any assistance to them through decision No. 529 / of 10/30/2019 .

The Japanese government announced , through its embassy in Damascus, to provide urgent aid to the regions of North and East Syria, which were exposed during the month of October of
current year to the Turkish aggression and resulted in a humanitarian catastrophe in the region.
