Elham Ahmed to German newspaper “Die Welt”: Germany could play an important role in solving the Syrian crisis

In a prolong ed interview with German newspaper “Die Welt”, the president of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council, Elham Ahmed, said that Germany can play an important role in settling the Syrian crisis and resolving the Kurdish issue in its part related to Turkish dealings with Kurdish people in Syria.
Ahmed who attended a conference on the Kurdish issue in German capital, Berlin, said that German government and parliament can employ their good relationship with Turkish state in order to push towards resolving the problems and settling them, just as it had a role (i.e. Germany) in emergence of some of these problems.
Ahmed said to the newspaper that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is investing the issue of Syrian refugees politically and blackmailing Germany and European Union countries by threatening to open his borders with the West to flow of refugees to European Union countries, adding that the number of Syrian refugees in Turkey has decreased during the past years. The Turkish President has always invested in sufferings of the Syrian people in terms of his interests and exporting his internal crises.
On the refugee crisis, the President of the Executive Committee of SDC noted, that by observing scenes and pictures coming from the Turkish-European borders, it turns out that not all asylum seekers are Syrians, there are those from African and Asian countries, some are Syrians, here is the falsity of Turkish allegations appears.
In this regard, she said that Self-Administration of North and East Syria through an important statement made a proposal to host Syrian refugees and displaced people in its regions, provided that United Nations and the European Union support it, since hosting refugees needs huge suppprt.
Turkey, which launched military operations and subsequently occupied large areas of Syrian territory, is also today carrying out an ethnic cleansing and genocide against Kurdish people in north of Syria, so how can it displace people from their areas of origin and resettle refugees from other areas in their homes; this cannot be called humanitarian work, but rather it is a part of processes of demographic change and distortion of the region’s identity, adding that it is not logical for a German state to participate in plans and conspiracies of expansion and occupying North Syria by Turkey.
Ahmed added that the Turkish threat continues to destabilize security and stability of areas of joint coexistence in North Syria and is proceeding with its plans, so the international powers and the United Nations must confront this threat and limit its disastrous interventions, after commitment of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to agreements and understandings and vacated their sites twenty miles from Turkish border. NowThe Russian military police and the Syrian government forces are taking task of preserving and protecting sovereign borders of Syrian state and I do not know whether Germany is a partner with Turkey in its plans regarding refugees.
Ahmed concluded her dialogue with a question about how Kurdish people and the components of the region in north and east Syria can be considered terrorists, while they are seeking to do a sustainable peace agreement with Turkish side and deal with it in accordance with principles of the United Nations and values of good neighborliness.
