On Wednesday, is Yazidis New Year (çarşeme Sor), as it falls on the first Wednesday of April, according to eastern calendar of each year.
We in the Syrian Democratic Council bless the people of Syria with all their components, especially Yazidi brothers, on this occasion, which symbolizes the beginning of life, formation of land and creation. It is considered one of the oldest known festivals that have found since ancient times, where its rituals call for love, tolerance and peace.
Throughout their long history, the Yezidis in the region were subjected to seventy-three massacres, the last of which was at the hands of the terrorist organization “ISIS”, where they were killed, raped and tens of thousands were displaced and the fate of thousands of women and children are still unknown.
On this occasion, which
has great privacy, value, and meanings, we express our sincere congratulations and blessings to the Yezidi brothers in Syria and the world, hoping that this festival will be a new beginning for all humanity, which united its energies for the victory and overcoming Corona pandemic, and that April will be joy and peace for humanity.
