It falls on October 9th; The first anniversary of the start of the Turkish aggression and the mercenaries of the so-called “Syrian National Army” against the safe cities of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Girê Spi (Tal Abyad), using all kinds of weapons, including internationally prohibited ones such as phosphorous bombs, which killed hundreds of civilian and military martyrs, and left massive destruction for the area under the name “Peace Spring”.
As a result of the brutal Turkish military operation, tens of thousands of residents of the region were displaced, and the occupied cities and villages turned into a hotbed for terrorist factions backed by the Turkish army, to practice a systematic policy of Turkification against the region and its original inhabitants and changing its demographics.
A year after the calamity caused by the Turkish killing and destruction machine against the residents and components of the region, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries from the terrorist factions of the Syrian Opposition Coalition continue to wreak corruption in the Syrian cities and towns in the regions of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad and commit war crimes and against humanity to the residents of the region original natives.
The components of the region from Kurds, Arabs, Armenians, Assyrians, Circassians and Turkmen were and are still targets of the Turkish campaign, and it deliberately displaced them and restricted those who remained by various means through confiscation of property, livelihoods and agricultural crops and burning them in addition to arrests and forced detention that affected innocent citizens from women, the elderly, children and people with special needs and tortured them to death. Turkey and its mercenaries brought in the families of mercenary fighters and settled them in these occupied areas; in order to change the cultural, religious and social features of the region.
We in the Syrian Democratic Council, while we condemn and denounce the Turkish occupation of Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad areas. We call on international institutions, led by the United Nations General Assembly and Mr. Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations and the countries active in the Syrian file, such as the United States of America and the Russian Federation, to work to end the Turkish occupation of north Syrian and to get out the intruders from the houses of original inhabitants.
We also call on them to open an independent investigation on the violations that took place in Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad and the field executions, especially the martyr Hevrin Khalaf, Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party, and to bring the perpetrators to international courts to hold them accountable for the war crimes they committed. In addition to securing the safe return of the forcibly displaced persons to their cities and villages, and to compensate those affected, in accordance with international treaties, human rights charter and protecting civilian population treaty during war.
We affirm that the Turkish presence throughout northern Syria from Afrin to Ras al-Ain passing through Azaz, Jarablus, al-Bab, Idlib and Tal Abyad, damaged the Syrian fabric and brought woes to the Syrian people with all their components, including killing, destruction and absence of security and stability, as well as the exploitation of their youth and using them as “mercenaries” on the fronts and the conflicts that the Turkish state is fueling in the region.
