The third meeting of the follow-up committee emanating from the National Conference for the People of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates was held in Al-Hasakah today to follow up the progress of the committee’s work, evaluate its work, and review the proposals submitted for the development of the Autonomous Administration.
The meeting was attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, the co-chair of the SDC, Amina Omar, and the co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Abdul Hamid Al-Mehbash, as well as members of the committee of the Autonomous and Civil administrations from all regions of North and East Syria.
The members who came for the meeting listened to the reports of the three committees that were formed during the last two meetings, namely (administrative – economic – security), which included a number of challenges facing the work of the committees, offices and bodies of the Autonomous Administration after each committee carried out numerous visits, follow-ups and meetings to extract the obstacles that limit the development of work and its progress as well as presenting proposals and feasible solutions and following up on their implementation.
The reports included vital issues related to the development of the Autonomous Administration and the lives of citizens in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, including administrative issues, restructuring issues, and institutionalization of Autonomous Administration bodies and committees, including services that affect the daily life of citizens and others related to the judiciary and justice.
The meeting members focused on anti-corruption files, approving consumer protection laws, and assigning the Central Supervision Agency to do what is necessary in this regard.
The Economic Committee reviewed several proposals by its report to empower the economy of the Autonomous Administration and thus improve the living conditions of the residents and citizens of the region, such as the agricultural sector by supporting it and encouraging farmers and improving the livestock sector, as well as submitting proposals related to finding solutions for the fuel and flour crisis.
ِAccording to the Security Committee, the meeting members approved a number of decisions regarding arrest and detention issues, through the establishment of the Office of Detainees Affairs and the determination of the period and method of detention to be according to a specific method and be effective in all departments of the Internal Security Forces in the regions of north and east Syria.
There are other laws and decisions that are discussed and implemented in which are scheduled to be announced during the next weeks, such as the Supply Law, the Tax Law and the Media Law, in addition to the Planning and Community Development Office.
The outputs of the National Conference for the people of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates are considered a strategic plan to develop the Autonomous Administration and expand community participation within the administration. These outcomes of the conference were as a result after thirteen dialogue seminars that were held in various regions of northern and eastern Syria during 2020.
