The Syrian Democratic Council

The Presidential Council stresses the priority of a political solution based on the consensus of the Syrians.

The Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council stressed the priority for a political solution to come up with a comprehensive settlement of the crisis, based on the consensus of the Syrians through constructive and serious dialogue.
The meeting of the Presidential Council was held today morning in the town of Al-Darbasiyah, north of Al-Hasakah, in which the meeting members discussed the developments of the Syrian crisis, political developments and prospects for a political solution.
They also discussed the recent developments about the course of the Syrian crisis, the outcomes of international meetings and their effects on the Syrian file, expressing their hope that these meetings will serve the cause of the Syrian people and end their crisis.
The meeting members talked about the recent Russian call to sponsor a dialogue between the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian government, where the participants expressed the importance of a dialogue among all Syrians on the condition that it leads to real results, and they stressed that the Syrian Democratic Council and the Autonomous Administration are open minded to accept a dialogue if Russia has a “real practical plan to deal with the issue of the relationship between Autonomous Administration and the Central Government in Damascus”.
About the course of the political solution and the unification of the democratic opposition, the meeting members talked about the continuous efforts of the SDC to make the efforts of the Syrian formations, blocs, and figures clear and to achieve a suitable base for the Syrians’ consensus and unification of their forces.
The meeting members considered that the decision of extending the mandate of the Bab Al-Hawa crossing contributes to help millions of Syrians in the camps in northwest Syria, and at the same time they expressed their regret for the failure of the Security Council to reopen the Yarubiyah, Tal Kojer, border crossing with Iraq and also the depriving residents of northern and eastern Syria from UN aid.
About the internal affairs, they stressed the need to develop and empower the Autonomous Administration, expand community participation, and work to implement the outcomes of the “National Conference of the people of Al-Jazeera and Euphrates.” They unanimously agreed that the Autonomous Administration project is an entry point for resolving the Syrian crisis and it should be generalized to all Syrian geography regions.
The meeting members also unanimously agreed to formulate a clear strategy in line with the recent developments, based on several levels, and based on strengthening the Syrian internal front and communicating with Arab and European countries and all active countries for the Syrian issue to achieve a progress for resolving the crisis, in addition to continuing a communication with community activities throughout the Syrian regions and holding dialogue seminars with groups and segments of the Syrian society.
Organizationally, the meeting members stressed the importance of organizing and structuring the council and its offices until the holding of the fourth conference in order to achieve the council’s vision and work.
They concluded with a briefing on the field situation by the Syrian Democratic Forces and their war against terrorism, and their work with partners of the international coalition to achieve the complete defeat of the terrorist organization ISIS.
