Unified Syria Assembly launches an appeal to stand up against any Turkish aggression

On Friday, Unified Syria Assembly launched an appeal calling on all Syrian powers to stand up against Turkish attacks and threats, and Turkey’s attempts to occupy Syrian territory by a statement issued in, Al-Qamishli, the eastern country.

The statement urged all Syrians to take a unified national position, speed up finding resolutions and not be content with condemnation. “We are as members of Unified Syria Assembly, and based on our national responsibility, we call for a unified national position against any aggression on Syrian territory and not content with condemnation, but rather speed up to find appropriate resolutions and address the situation on an emergency basis.” the statement stated.

“This requires a direct agreement between the political and military powers in the region, specifically the SDF and the Syrian government, regardless of disagreement and divergence, because the national, humanitarian and moral interest lies in everything that would protect the region and its inhabitants and also preserve the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian state. As we affirm the need to unite the internal structure, develop all national levels and assume responsibility in a participatory manner and at the Middle East level” regarding the measures to be taken, the statement noted.

The Unified Syria Assembly considered that any Turkish military operation on Syrian territory is an aggression against all the Syrian people and it will have disastrous results. “Any Turkish military operation on Syrian territory is an aggression against all the Syrian people and cannot be considered targeting a specific party, no matter what the Turkish pretexts, and any new Turkish military operation would undermine stability, lead to more destruction and displacement, increase the suffering of civilians and it will only contribute to complicate the Syrian crisis, as well as the processes of demographic change, displacement and asylum that will be as a result of this aggression.” The Assembly stated.

This wording came in accordance with the basic data mentioned by the Unified Syria Assembly at the beginning of its statement in which it was as following: “Turkish threats to launch a military operation in northern Syria have recently increased in conjunction with daily bombing and targeting operations carried out by the Turkish army, flouting international conventions and the principle of respect for the sovereignty of states as well as a flagrant violation of ceasefire and de-escalation agreements, where the data indicate a new military operation in which Turkey completes the occupation of more Syrian territory where the United Nations and guarantor countries know that, in which they must impose on Turkey the principle of dialogue and peace, not war and aggression “.

It is noteworthy that Unified Syria Assembly includes a group of community activists and national opposition figures at home and from various Syrian regions.
