The nineteenth of the current July marks the tenth anniversary of the start of the revolution of the peoples of northern and eastern Syria (Rojava), which was a continuation of the revolution of the Syrian people in general, and the embodiment of the demands of Syrians in change, democracy and building a modern Syria based on the principle of citizenship and the basic values of coexistence and on the basis of the universal national identity.
As we salute this solemn occasion, we must pay tribute to the historical resistance of people of northern and eastern Syria with their various components including Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and others in Kobani, where they were as a symbol of resistance and heroism, as they expressed a bright example of the desired Syrian situation by their solidarity and unity against the forces of terrorism and extremism, in which in Al-Baghouz, where the Syrian Democratic Forces, with the support of the International Coalition, defeated the terrorist ISIS organization after the sacrifice of more than 11 thousand martyrs and twice as many of them including the wounded and injured.
The construction continued with the liberation, where the people of the liberated areas established structures and institutions of a city to facilitate the affairs of the people and ensure their security and stability, culminating in the establishment of local governance, which is the Autonomous Administration of northern and eastern Syria, which presented an advanced experience in governance and administration.
We appreciate this experience and congratulate the residents of northern and eastern Syria on this occasion, which established the values of coexistence and peace and proved that the participation and empowerment of women are considered as a decisive factor regarding the development of societies, and that experience gave the opportunity for youth to participate, so it supported the components, encouraged the pluralism and diversity of Syria and set laws which protect all that.
We believe that experience, which enabled the society to manage itself, is a fundamental pillar of decentralization and a model for the future Syria, which we only want to be free from occupiers, tyrants and terrorists, and be unified and sovereign, as the Syrians wanted it as “a democratic, pluralistic and decentralized Syria” that preserves the country and establishes a more stable and advanced stage.
This occasion coincides on its tenth anniversary with a very dangerous historical moment, in which our country needs to cooperate and unite against Turkish threats and its expansionist ambitions, as the Turkish state does not hesitate to exploit any regional or international circumstance to blackmail international actors to achieve its interests in the Syrian territories, which are threatened with partition more than ever due to Turkish policies, interventions and practices.
We are as members of the Syrian Democratic Council, and on the basis of unity and national interests among Syrian cities and regions, and in order to preserve the identity of the country and the integrity of its sovereignty and borders; we call on all Syrians to unite the position and work against the Turkish occupiers and their ambitions, and we should enhance coordination and cooperation to repel these attempts that seek to prolong the Syrian crisis and turn it into a failed state of extremism and threatening the regional security.
We also call for a just resolution for the Kurdish issue in Syria as a national issue and the recognition of the full legitimate rights of the Kurdish people.
We are aware of the risks that threaten the unity and safety of the country, and based on the logic of national responsibility, we appeal to the countries involved in the Syrian file, in which the USA is at the foremost of those countries, the International Coalition against ISIS, the Russian Federation and international institutions to intervene and work to avoid Syria more bloodshed and the pain of migration and displacement, to deter Turkey and end its occupation of Syrian territories, and countries should engage to work for a political settlement and the implementation of international resolutions on Syria, foremost of which is Resolution 2254.
