A National Forum in Aleppo City Rejects the Turkish Presence and Policy Towards Syria

The Democratic Union Party and the Syrian Change and Renaissance Party held “The Syrian National Democratic Forum” under the slogan “No for the Turkish Occupation, and the Call for the Liberation of all the Occupied Syrian Territories”, on Saturday, August 27th, in Al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city.

The forum was attended by 71 Syrian figures in addition to a delegation of the Syrian Democratic Council, where the forum’s cabinet included the Secretary General of the Syrian Change and Renaissance Party, “Mustafa Qalaji”, a member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, “Aisha Hasso”, and a member of the Human Rights Organization in Afrin, a jurist “Gabriel Mustafa”.

The Secretary General of the Syrian Change and Renaissance Party, “Mustafa Qalaji”, spoke about Turkish ambitions historically in Syria, and what is stated in the Milli-Turkish Pact about Aleppo as an Ottoman-Turkish state, and the continuation of dealing with the city of Aleppo as an Ottoman-Turkish state.

Qalaji pointed out that the Turkish authority was continuing to deal with the city of Aleppo as a Turkish Ottoman state, as it claimed in its Turkish Pact, in which during of issuing decisions to appoint a state for Turkish cities, it was appointing a wali for the city of Aleppo where his headquarters in the city of Gaziantep to confirm that the city belongs to it, in addition to using the unfair Adana Agreement of 1998 for the peoples of the region as a justification for these attacks, the terms of which were violated by the Turkish side and it was used to achieve its expansionist interests.

The theme also touched upon the international collusion with Turkey and allowing it to occupy Syrian territories in the north of Syria, and the continuous Turkish ambitions to control the m4 road.
On the other hand, Aisha Hasso, a member of the General Council of the Democratic Union Party, spoke about the ongoing Turkish ambitions, as the Turkish authority publicly declares this through its occupation projects under the pretext of establishing “a safe zone” that will be a hotbed for extremists and a pretext for changing the demography of Syria.

“During this deteriorating situation including continuous Turkish attacks and regional and international cooperation with the Turkish regime by countries that care of their interests at the expense of the interests of all Arabs, Kurds and all other components of the Syrian people, so we believe that it is very important not to rely on the parties abroad for any action because the parties abroad don’t care about Syrian interests.” On the importance of cooperation and coordination among all Syrian national powers to repel the Turkish aggression, Hasso said.

In conclusion, Hasso stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination among all Syrian National Democratic Powers at home and abroad to repel the Turkish aggression.

During the Forum, a congratulatory telegram was received by the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces “Mazloum Abdi”, and a telegram on behalf of the Autonomous Administration of northern and eastern Syria, on behalf of the displaced of Sere Kaniyah and Afrin, and on behalf of the initiative “No for the Turkish Occupation of Syria”, wishing success to the works of the Syrian National Democratic Forum, and renewing the pledge to repel the Turkish occupation to liberate all the occupied Syrian territories.

5- We appeal to the Syrian government to take into account the fears of the Syrian people about the proposals of the Turkish occupier once by threatening to launch a war and once by promoting rapprochement with the Syrian government which talked about the danger of the Turkish regime’s subversive role throughout the years of war in Syria and the need to beware of it.
6- Any Syrian-Turkish agreement that is being worked on should guarantee and recognize the right of voluntary return of displaced people at home and abroad to their areas and have their properties and not target any of the components of Syrian society.
7- Despite the reservation to the Astana agreements and their negative effects on Syria and its north, especially, we hold Russia and Iran their responsibility as guarantor states in the Astana tripartite to restore Syria’s entire occupied territory and for the expel of Turkish forces from the Syrian north and all military forces supported by Syrian regime.
