A Consultative Forum in Al-Qamishli for Bringing Views Closer Together

Today, on Friday, a wide range of Syrian powers, actors and figures met in the city of Al-Qamishli to discuss the importance of a political resolution for the Syrian crisis and to discuss the concepts of a comprehensive national identity and decentralization.

In turn, a delegation from the Syrian Democratic Council participated in the forum along with more than sixty figures, representatives of political parties and movements from various Syrian regions and political affiliations.

The Preparatory Committee for the Conference of Democratic Powers and Figures, which was emerged from the consultative meetings in Stockholm in the Swedish capital, in the late last year, also was invited to the forum.

At the beginning of the forum, the Preparatory Committee made a speech in which it explained its efforts to hold such meetings at home and abroad. “What we are presenting today is an initiative towards unifying Syrian national visions and positions” a member of the Preparatory Committee, Janda Muhammad, said.

She added on these efforts that they are not the result of works of nowadays, but rather the result of accumulations over two years of numerous consultative meetings with various powers, Syrian national democratic figures with political, independent, and academic backgrounds, and various civil society powers inside and outside Syria.

Muhammad pointed out that the resolution of the Syrian crisis, which has lasted eleven years without any resolutions, can be done by the intra-Syrian dialogue.

The forum is scheduled to last for two days, during which it will deal with the concepts of the comprehensive national identity, and decentralization as a regime of governance for the future Syria.

The Preparatory Committee, that was emerged after a series of forums and dialogue workshops inside and outside the country, has held three consultative meetings in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, over two years in addition to the first meeting inside the city of Aleppo, which was held last August, and the second in the city of Raqqa at the beginning of this month.
