MSDThe Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council held a dialogue seminar, today, entitled “The Role of Parties in Democratic Politics”, in order to bring together ideas and goals among the parties and develop them within an institutional framework to promote the process of the democratic transition and resolution.
Representatives of the political parties in the city of Aleppo, along with a number of remarkable political figures, participated in the seminar held in Al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo.
The seminar was begun with a welcoming speech by the administrator at the Relation Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, “Zaynab Qunber”, through which she spoke about democratic politics and what it is, and about the importance of the role of political parties in the transition process and making societal changes.
That was followed by a presentation of the seminar’s theme, where a member of the Relation Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, “Ahmed Al-Labban”, began his speech by pointing out that the reality of Syrian society has been subjected to the most severe types of the social injustice and systematic exclusion for decades, and that the reorganization of society and the activation of the dispossessing community structure by restoring and organizing all aspects of life is a national necessity for the whole Syrian society.
“The role of the parties comes from the standpoint of forming the crucible and the political and national framework of the individual, and the individual’s role in setting the vision of the structure of the democratic society, which is to be achieved as an imperative and fateful necessity necessary for the formation of a human being, and the free democratic regime which guarantees rights for all its members to live in a free democratic life, within the institutional and organizational framework, and in accordance with a law and a social contract that is fair and equal to all individuals regarding rights and duties.” Al-Labban said.
He continued his speech that the concepts and goals adopted by the political parties in Syria will not have a purpose if they do not have a real content and a program that affects the reality and reflects positively on the life of the citizen, and saves him from the limitations of ideas of the one-frame.
He also stressed the need to activate and develop the structure and systems of parties, promote and consolidate the democratic cause, support the aspects and programs of transition towards the need for pluralism, participation and free democratic life, and delve into political regimes until the drafting of a social contract, which ensures the formal image and social and structural content of management and economic systems.
The political parties had speech participations that presented their visions on how to enable the role of political parties to create a ground for democratic transition and resolution in Syria and the challenges facing the formation of a unified organizational and administrative base for democratic parties to lead the inevitable democratic transition process in Syria.
Through their speech participations, the attendees stressed the necessity and importance of developing the national and societal awareness of the people through party programs, activating the pivotal role between the party and society, and consolidating communication processes among political parties and deliberation in accordance with the common national interest, which aims regarding the principle to improve and raise the level of the Syrian citizen, enhance his freedom, preserve and protect his rights within the framework of the democratic constitution, fair laws and general equality.
