How to avoid the division of Syria? A Russian diplomat answers!

Russian diplomat and writer, Rami Al-Shaer, expressed his belief that there is no Syrian or international party seeking to divide Syria, noting that “Syria will not be divided, and Syrians of various affiliations will not allow this to happen.”.

The political adviser of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rami Al-Shaer, answers in a private interview by the website “Daraa 24” about how to avoid the division of Syria, as he believes that “federalization is a resolution regarding the current Syrian situation” and that the way to do this is by the Syrians reaching consensus among themselves through the intra-Syrian dialogue.

“The new constitutional amendment should take into account the rights of all ethnic minorities in Syria and their right to practice their customs and traditions, including their language,” Al-Shaer continued his speech.

“As long as this (the intra-Syrian dialogue) does not happen, chaos will continue and the situation will deteriorate and turn worse, and this deterioration can only be stopped by agreeing primarily on the constitutional amendment and starting the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254,” he added.

According to Al-Shaer, “Russia adheres to Security Council Resolution 2254 to resolve the Syrian crisis, and all the statements issued by Moscow regarding the Syrian crisis confirm this,” but he confirms that “no one will be able to implement this resolution and save Syria and its people except the Syrians themselves”.

The Russian diplomat regrets the delay regarding the process of political transition to another new regime, and attributed that to the immaturity of the Syrian self-situation, without through which the change cannot happen in Syria, the Russian diplomat said, blaming the authorities in Damascus for that because they did not initiate the political transition process, but they obstruct it, as he put it.

He pointed out that reaching final settlements regarding the Syrian file should be carried out through the process of peaceful political transition to a new regime through the participation of all people and to meet the aspirations of all Syrians, through a constitutional amendment and the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254.

Al-Shaer added that “Repudiating the Security Council resolution and betting on the eliminating of each party to another party, whether by the regime or the opposition, contributes to the deterioration of the situation and establishing a very bad future for Syria, and no one but Syrian people will suffer from tragic situation completely, and those who try to ignore that the situation is tragic are unscrupulous and immoral people, ” according to his description.

He explained that maintaining calm and stopping fighting among Syrians, especially in the south and north of Syria, is the most important thing, which Russia is trying to stabilize and maintain, to preserve the lives of Syrians, including “the Syrian regime and the opposition”.
