MSDToday, Humanity is in a race against time, so every moment that has passed since writing this call, there are lives threatened by doom, as hundreds of injured Syrian victims are still groaning under the rubble of the terrible earthquake that destroyed entire populated areas, and despite the urgent need of Syrians for UN support, but international positions and initiatives have not risen to the humanitarian level required so far to deal with the scale of the colossal disaster that hit Syria where the number of deaths exceeded 4500 victims and it is likely to increase the number in every moment.
We, the political powers and organizations that are signatories of this call, urge and plead to the international community, UN organizations and non-governmental organizations to take urgent action to save the lives of Syrians who are under the rubble, work to stop the deterioration of the humanitarian situation for hundreds of thousands of survivors and affected people who remained as homeless and vulnerable to hunger and extreme cold weather, so they have to take responsible steps by expediting the dispatch of rescue teams specialized in natural disasters with the necessary equipment, open international crossings border, establish safe humanitarian corridors, provide medical support and urgent humanitarian assistance to contribute in saving people’s lives and human dignity which is the essence of the principles and values in which various international covenants and charters were based on them.
