We are following with great sadness and concern the news of the painful results of the earthquake that hit large areas throughout Syria, especially the border areas between Turkey and Syria, and the impact on the Syrian and Turkish people by its results.
Preliminary estimates indicate that hundreds of Syrians lost their lives and their property was damaged following the earthquake that hit several Syrian regions and governorates, and large areas of Turkey were also affected.
The disaster and its aftermath of martyrs, wounded and afflicted are only a sign of the unity of fate, and the need for rapprochement and coexistence instead of threat. There is one disaster and we bear the consequences.
We appeal to everyone to extend help for the stricken areas, help the injured and trapped people who are among the rubble, and provide shelter centers, safe assembly points and protection from the effects of stormy and snowy weather and low heat on children and the elderly especially.
We call on all the competent health and relief institutions, as well as the Civil Defense to work to provide the necessary needs as much as possible.
We also call on all international actors to shoulder their responsibilities on this disaster and to take measures that support the rescue of civilians and prevent the aggravation of this disaster.
It is a disaster that makes us to agree on the need for human and environmental solidarity, solving problems through understanding and dialogue, peaceful solutions for problems, and that arrogance is a scourge and doom.
Mercy for all those who died because of this tragic disaster, quick recovery for the wounded and security for the afflicted people.
