MSDWith great sorrow, the Syrian Democratic Council mourns the patriotic figure and researcher Bassma Kodmani, who passed away today after a struggle with illness.
Because of the death of the late woman, the Syrian homeland lost a national and scientific figure, who devoted most of her life for serving her country and for the rights of her people, and participated in national activities and initiatives calling for a resolution for the crisis that has afflicted her country since March 2011.
The late woman stood with her people on their ordeal, fought for their aspirations for freedom and dignity, supported their revolution against tyranny, worked with Syrians to establish a national state that transcends polarization, and chose to stand by her people until she passed away today.
The Syrian Democratic Council extends its deepest condolences and great sympathy to the family members of the deceased and the general Syrian people.
