A Statement for the Public Opinion

On March 8th is the International Women’s Day. On this great occasion, we extend our warmest blessings and congratulations to all women in the world and Syrian women in particular.

The day that was culminated in thanks to the great sacrifices that women have made and are still making throughout their historical path in order to regain their usurped rights and freedom and to restore their natural role in leading and pioneering of society.

Our remembrance and celebration of this day is a continuation of the path of resistant women since the dawn of history, and perhaps what the Syrian women have presented is the best evidence of her faith and determination to move forward in the path of women’s liberation, to regain their rights, and to achieve justice, equality and democratization of society.

12 years of struggle and sacrifice in the face of tyranny, dictatorship, terrorism and the authoritarian, exclusionary masculine mindset as well as 12 years of pain, tragedy, suffering and challenges did not deter their struggle and did not undermine their free will.
After that, the human catastrophe came because of the earthquake and added more pain, suffering and tragedy, especially after its politicization by those who caused their tragedy, and revealed the truth and hypocrisy of the international community, and how they left the fate of the Syrian people is the responsibility of those who caused their suffering and were the cause of the prolongation of the Syrian crisis and its tragedy through their control of aid international humanitarian by trafficking.

The tragic reality of women is not exclusive to Syrian women alone. Nowadays, the women’s revolution in Iran is subjected to the most severe types of violence, injustice, persecution, and other women around the world are subjected to the same. Therefore, it requires that women around the world should unite and move away from the distraction and fragmentation of the issue of women’s freedom. The issue has always been the same, even if it differed in levels from one society to another, so solidarity and work together are important to preserve the gains that women have achieved for the sake of their rights and liberation, and to complete their struggle to obtain their full rights. So, by their liberation, their society will be liberated, and social justice, equality and democracy will be achieved. To achieve as mentioned, we need more struggle, development, awareness, knowledge, communication and unification of efforts.

We, as the Syrian Democratic Council, congratulate the women of the world in general and Syrian women in particular on this day, and let us make this year, as the year of Syrian women, a year of empowering women and their participation in the political process and building peace, uniting the ranks of the Syrians, and for women to be partners in resolving the Syrian crisis. We believe that the best solutions for women’s freedom and society are based on a decentralized, democratic, pluralistic Syria, in which women’s rights are constitutionally protected.

Happy International Women’s Day
