A large number of sheikhs and notables of the Syrian clans from different regions agreed on the importance of the political role of the Syrian clans and the necessity of communicating with the Arab surroundings to which they belong.
On Wednesday, the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council completed a series of seminars that were held with sheikhs and dignitaries of the four regions, which are Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij, and Kobani.
Those seminars were taken place at the meeting room of the Syrian Democratic Council in Raqqa, in the presence of more than 60 figures including sheikhs and notables of the clans and dignitaries of the four regions and other regions, on “the political role of the clans about the future of Syria”.
The organizers of those seminars explained that the clan has a fundamental role setting community policy, consolidating civil peace, strengthening community cohesion, and discussing the role of clans in resolving the crisis and consolidating the pillars of administration.
The symposium was begun by the Co-chair of the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, Hassan Muhammad Ali, by pointing out the developments taking place in the region and what challenges it faces, as the Syrian crisis has a new phase, and the latest development is the Arab role in resolving the Syrian crisis.
Muhammad Ali added that the clans can play their biggest role as being a strong factor in partnership, confrontation, pressure, networking the political side with societal activities, and being a deterrent force against those who try to use them.
Sheikh Khaled Al-Ajour, one of the sheikhs of the Al-Bubani clan, spoke about the history of the clan, as some tried to benefit from it, considering that the situation of the clans under the Autonomous Administration is the best, and that the clan is a societal condition far from politics and that it is a status, not a position.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Sadiq Al-Asidi, the Chairman of the Manbij Notables’ Body, put forward a proposal on activating the role of clans and forming clan delegations to communicate with Arab countries in order to serve the resolution for the crisis in the country.
The sheikh of the al-Musa al-Zaher clan, Ibrahim Al-Hadi, agreed on “any resolution offered by the Arab people, and he said that we must work hard to come up with satisfactory results for the Syrian people”.
For his part, Sheikh Mahidi Al-Saleh, Sheikh of the Al-Huwaywat clan, wished that the tribes and clans would participate in the political arena alongside the other Syrian components and that they would be a real and active partner and consolidate brotherhood and love among all its people and take advantage of the tribal rapprochement and lineage with the tribes of neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, Rasho Al-Ali called the notables of Kobani for a real role of the clans and the activation of the councils of notables, calling for creating real cohesion among the people and working towards reform and starting over.
In his turn, Abd Al-Rahman Al-Issa, one of the al-Nasser clan touched on the need to restore the clan system that has collapsed since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, as it was divided on organizations such as military groupings and political parties, and all of which failed, according to his point of view.
Al-Issa ended his participation by asking whether the clan system is on its path to collapse or it can face all challenges.
Sheikh Ayed Al-Hadi, one of the sheikhs of the Al-Afadleh clan, stated that the clans, during the control of the Baath Party and ISIS, did not have any role, but during the region was controlled by the Syrian Democratic Council, the role of clans was activated thanks to a number of sheikhs as Sheikh Basheer Al-Huwaydi and others.
Sheikh Hashem Al-Deif, the Sheikh of the Al-Bu Jaber clan, appealed to everyone to unite together for the sake of the national democratic project, to rely on themselves, rely on the masses and take strength from them.
The meeting was concluded by emphasizing the need to communicate with clans and activating their role in promoting community cohesion and civil peace, and involving clans in political discussions aimed at resolving the crisis in the country.
The Syrian Democratic Council had held the Syrian Clans Forum in May 2019, in the presence of more than 5,000 sheikhs and notables from various Syrian clans, to emphasize the role and importance of clans in Syrian society and the final resolution for the crisis in the country.
