Congratulation on the International Workers’ Day

On the occasion of May 1st, International Workers’ Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all workers in Syria and around the world. This day reflects the respect and appreciation for their tremendous efforts in building society and advancing nations.

This occasion has a rich tradition for honoring the working class and represents a great symbolism for the labor movement and its historical struggle for rights, dignity, and social justice. Workers are considered as the driving force behind progress and sustainable development.

Nowadays, workers in Syria face significant challenges due to the dire conditions resulted from the devastating war. They are among the most segments of society affected by the war at all levels. Nevertheless, they continue to play a pioneering role in uniting Syrians, development, and reconstructing what the war has destroyed. They are true heroes who work tirelessly despite all the hardships and suffering. We draw strength from their unwavering determination and resilience to resume work under the most difficult circumstances.

We, as members of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), recognize the importance of workers’ crucial role in rebuilding Syria and achieving peace and prosperity. Therefore, we are committed to defending workers’ rights, protecting them, and providing favorable conditions for them to work with dignity. We also fully support the labor movement’s struggle for its just demands.

The future Syria that we all aspire to can only be realized through the collective efforts of our people and their determination to achieve a fair regime that guarantees dignity for everyone and social justice under a democratic, pluralistic and decentralized regime.
