SDC holds a dialogue seminar in Deir ez-Zor on current situation

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held on Thursday a dialogue seminar in Deir ez-Zor to discuss the current political situation in Syria.

A wide range of intellectuals, politicians, and individuals interested in public affairs, as well as tribal leaders from Deir ez-Zor and its countryside attended the seminar. Also, representatives of civil society organizations, Ghassan al-Youssef, Deputy of the SDC’s Co-chairs, Hassan Muhammad Ali, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Relations Office, and Sheikh Hefel al-Hefel, a member of the SDC’s General Council, participated in the seminar.

Al-Youssef welcomed the participants. He stated that the SDC is committed to collaborate with all segments of the Syrian people in pursuit of a win-win political solution that achieves justice and equality.

Muhammad Ali discussed the overall political situation in Syria at the regional level. Additionally, he underscored the actors’ roles that take priority for the regional and international interests.

Also, Muhammad Ali highlighted the challenges faced by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES). He noted that there are entities that work to make problems and sow discord among the Syrian components, particularly the so-called Astana talks.

Al-Youssef talked about the SDC’s working strategy at the local level and the role of diplomatic relations through the SDC’s representatives and offices abroad. He emphasized the outcomes of the Aleppo National Meeting, most importantly the unity of Syrian territory and people.

Al-Hefel stressed the importance of supporting the project of the AANES and avoiding attempts to drag the region into conflicts. He presented a brief assessment by the people of Deir ez-Zor on the service performance implemented by the AANES, discussing the challenges in the region and affirming that the AANES is a Syrian democratic model.

Participants raised various questions and made contributions related to political issues, services, and administrative matters. Key topics included the Law on Administrative Divisions, justice, and the judiciary, as well as enhancing political engagement in the region.
