SDC’s Co-chairs meet Kurdish Democratic Party and Democratic Peace Party

Layla Qaraman and Mahmoud al-Mislat, Co-chairs of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), met on Wednesday with the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (al-Parti). The meeting took place with the aim of exchanging views and discussing political issues and developments of the Syrian crisis.

Also, the SDC’s delegation included Afram Ishaq, Deputy of the SDC’s Co-chairs and Hussein Azam, a member of the SDC’s Relations Office.

Nasr al-Din Ibrahim, Secretary of the Party, and Abdul Rahman Hussein, a member of the Party’s Political Office, received the SDC’s delegation. The meeting focused on discussing political issues and developments of the Syrian crisis.

Al-Mislat emphasized that meeting with all political parties and enhancing their roles are considered as a priority for the SDC. He highlighted the importance of the leading parties’ role during this challenging phase of the crisis.

Ibrahim considered the SDC’s project a national and political initiative that achieves aspirations of all Syrians. Also, it is a political umbrella for all powers to contribute to promoting democratic national change and reaching a democratic and pluralistic Syria.

In a related context, the delegation met with the Democratic Peace Party. Talal Muhammad, Secretary of the Party, Avin Qafour and Muhammad Amin, members of the Party’s Political Office, received the SDC’s delegation.

Qaraman stated that parties constitute the backbone of the SDC, and the success of this project depends on the presence of these parties and independent figures.

Both sides exchanged views on political developments and their implications for the Syrian issue. They emphasized the importance of working according to a national program that leads to national agreements and resolves outstanding issues, especially given the waning international interest in the Syrian crisis.

These meetings are considered as part of a series of meetings that the SDC will hold with political parties in the coming days.
