SDC holds a dialogue seminar with university students in Raqqa

In recognition of the importance of youth activities, the Relations Office of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) held on Tuesday a dialogue seminar in Raqqa city. Young people, an elite group of university students, jurists, human rights activists, and academics from Syrian universities attended the seminar.

Hassan Muhammad Ali, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Relations Office, and Zozan Aloush, a member of the Women’s Advisory Council for the Office of the Special Envoy for Syria and a member of the SDC’s Women’s Association, participated in the seminar. Also, Nasser Nasro, Co-chairman of the SDC’s Youth Council along with the Relations Office members in Raqqa were present at the seminar.

The participants in the seminar observed a minute of silence to remember the martyrs of freedom in Syria. Aloush initiated the discussion by focusing on education sector, certificates, and universities, emphasizing that these topics are consistently and continuously discussed during local and international negotiations. She cited experiences of some European countries regarding the education sector.

Regarding the latest political developments, Muhammad Ali highlighted the mechanism of the SDC’s path. Also, he focused on the SDC’s strategy aimed at the unity of Syrians and considering all Syrian issues as national priorities.

Despite there is a current political stagnation on the Syrian issue, the SDC has managed to play a crucial role in strengthening regional and international relations in this regard amid the ongoing changes in the region.

On another note, Muhammad Ali pointed out the significant achievements made by the sacrifices of martyrs and the efforts of the people in Syria, particularly in Raqqa city. Nowadays, there are service institutions, civil administrations, and local universities that cater to the needs of the community.

 

The second theme of the seminar included several participations, as Nasro clarified the significant role that the university students can play in the current stage and the responsibilities entrusted to them. Nasro believed in the youth activities relied upon by Syria’s leadership in the future.

Meanwhile, Nayif al-Nayif, Dean of the Faculty of Law, highlighted the importance of recognizing the local universities in NE Syria, similar to private universities in Syria.

Abdul Karim Jafar, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, called for expanding the spaces allocated to establish local universities and increase human resources within these universities.

During the seminar, university students raised many questions and inquiries related to the SDC’s crucial role, its coordination with political parties, and the ongoing Turkish escalation in the region. They also emphasized to eliminate the Islamic State (ISIS) ideology following its military defeat.

In conclusion, the participants addressed the questions raised in the seminar, leaving a positive impact on the students. The students realized the important connections between their legal and administrative expertise and the SDC as a political institution.
