In a statement read today, the residents of Afrin and Al-Shahba called upon the international community to intervene to stop the massacres committed by the Turkish state and its mercenaries against unarmed civilians and end their crime in northern Syria.
The statement was read by the residents of Afrin and Al-Shahba in Tal Rifa’at town, specifically from the school that was shelled and eight children were killed in addition to other civilians.
The statement described the “safe zone” in which the Turkish state speaks about as the security theater to practice its crimes:
“The establishment of a safe zone by the Turkish state is irrelevant cause that has nothing with
safety and stability, but to search for a safe zone to practice killing and destruction in it”
The statement also said that the Turkish state’s aim of committing these massacres is to intimidate and terrorize the population in order to make them displace and leave their areas for completing the process of demographic change and application of ethnic cleansing in the region.
This crime which is committed by the Turkish state in Tal Rifa’at comes within the expansionist occupation project and undermines the efforts of the international community to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN resolutions.
In conclusion, the statement called on the Syrian government and Russian forces in Al-Shahba area to take the necessary procedures to prevent such attacks and protect civilians from Turkish bombing.
On December 2, the town of Tal Rifa’at was shelled by Turkish artillery aiming a primary school , killing ten civilians, mostly children.
