The Syrian Democratic Council

Statement to Public Opinion

Once again, terrorism has grown horns and fangs and targets safe people in the Austrian capital Vienna, where gunmen targeted yesterday evening, Monday, several locations in the capital Vienna, leaving four dead and a number of wounded.
We in the Syrian Democratic Council condemn and denounce this cowardly terrorist act, we express our full solidarity with the Austrian people in this tragedy, we believe that it is necessary for the international community to take measures to maintain security and protect safe people in the world from terrorist attacks, extremism and violence of all forms.
Accordingly, we call for the creation of an international system that works to monitor international decisions related to combating terrorism, countering its financing, and holding accountable countries that facilitate presence of extremists on their territories or their places of control.
While we call on the international community to work to increase coordination and cooperation in order to eliminate extremist ideology and its supporters, whether it is the global “Al Qaeda” organization and its offshoots or the terrorist organization ISIS, we call on the international coalition to fight ISIS to continue its work to eradicate terrorism and its ideology, pursue its sleeper cells and prosecute its members in north and east Syria through terrorism courts to be established for that purpose.
We also call on the UN Security Council and the international coalition to fight ISIS to pursue ISIS elements and princes who are present in the areas occupied by Turkey, whether in Afrin or Sri Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), and the banners and symbols of ISIS terrorist organization have also recently been seen raising in their marches and rituals similar to those that were held during the control of ISIS over Syria and Iraq, as these areas (i.e. Afrin and Ras al-Ain) have become a safe haven and fertile ground for exporting of terrorism and extremism again. Thus exporting it to the world and threatening its security and peace.
In conclusion, we offer our condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the government and people of Republic of Austria, wishing an urgent recovery for the wounded and injured.
