Mrs. Elham Ahmed receives a high-level American delegation and many files have been discussed

Mrs. Elham Ahmed, a chairwoman of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, received a delegation that included Ethan Goldrich, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of state, Jennifer Gavito, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iraq affairs, Zahra Bell, a director of the Syria and Iraq file at the National Security Council, and Matthew Pearl, a representative of the US State Department in northern and eastern Syria, in the presence of Ali Rahmon, Janda Muhammed, Amjad Othman and Thabet Al-Jawhar, members of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, during which they discussed the current political situation at the local, regional and international levels.

The two sides discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine on the current situation in Syria in general and northern and eastern Syria in particular, and they stressed the need to start a political solution in Syria based on the UN terms of reference, especially Resolution 2254, and that the political solution guarantees a democratic transition and a fair representation for all Syrians, and the achievement of security and stability, which prevents the attempt of the terrorist organization (ISIS) to revive itself again, especially after the killing of its leader.

The meeting members also stressed the importance of the role of all Syrian parties and the need for the participation of representatives of all Syrian parties in the international solution paths.

The delegation commended the efforts of the Syrian Democratic Council regarding the Syrian – Syrian dialogue and the dialogue between local parties in northern and eastern Syria.
