The people of Al-sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiyah demand to lift the siege in Aleppo

Thousands of residents of Al-sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiya neighborhoods demonstrated to demand removal of the fourth division checkpoint and to denounce the policies of starvation imposed by the authority in Damascus through preventing the entry of basic needs such as flour, medicine, infant formula and fuel into the neighborhoods.
The people of Al-sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiyah neighborhoods denounced the siege through the demonstration entitled the slogan “No siege on Al-Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafiyah neighborhoods, No the policy of starvation, Long Live the resistance of free peoples”.
The residents of the neighborhoods, political parties, civil institutions and the Syrian Democratic Council participated in the demonstration, where demonstrators gathered in front of the meeting room located in the western section of Al-Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city.
The demonstrators roamed main streets of the neighborhood and reached to Al-Jazeera checkpoint (the fourth division checkpoint), amid the loud voices echoing slogans demanding the lifting of the siege imposed on Al-Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiyah and Al-Shahbaa neighborhoods and withdrawal of the fourth division checkpoints that lead to the neighborhoods.
The member of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, “Mari Al-Shibli” , made a speech in front of the fourth division checkpoint where he pointed out that people of Al-Sheikh Maqsoud, Al-Ashrafiyah and Al-Shahbaa neighborhoods are Syrians and these regions are considered as a part from Syrian territories.
He rejected the systematic policy followed by the government to make people hungry and bargain them for their livelihood.
“If the government of Damascus believes that it can by its policy to make our people to acquiesce, those people who defend and protect their neighborhood and Aleppo, we will not acquiesce and we will continue to resist” he said.
Al-Shibli stressed the need for removal the fourth division checkpoints located at the entrances of two neighborhoods, the need for lifting the imposed siege and the need for entry of the basic necessary materials that meet the needs of citizens.

It was mentioned that the fourth division followed by the government of Damascus has prevented the entry of flour, fuel, infant formula and medical supplies in addition to raw materials for manufacture of clothes since the thirteenth of the last March.
