The “SDC” holds a series of fruitful meetings with deputies and representatives of political parties in the Austrian parliament

The Syrian Democratic Council “SDC” held a series of meetings with parties and committees of the Austrian Parliament, where they focused on the issues of the Syrian political resolution, combating terrorism, and supporting the Syrian people in the endeavors of change, humanitarian and economic assistance.

These meetings were characterized by seriousness and fruitfulness, where the delegation of the “SDC” got acquainted closely with the positions of the Austrian parties, their vision of a political resolution in Syria and security and political issues in the regions of northern and eastern Syria in particular.

The last of these meetings within the visit conducted by the representatives of the “SDC” committees in Austria was with a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian parliament for the Green Party, Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic, where that meeting was held at the parliament building by the Co-chairman of the Syrian Democratic Council, Riyadh Darrar and a member of the Relations Bureau, Salah Farho.

The Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council met the spokesman of the ruling people’s party (ÖVP) in Austria and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian Parliament, Martin Engelberg last September.

He also met with Helmut Brandstatter, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Austrian parliament and spokesman for the NEOS party for Foreign Relations, on the tenth of October 2022.

A member of the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, Salah Farho, said that parties and their representatives of the Austrian parliament support a political resolution and consensus among Syrians without exclusion, and they praised the efforts of the Syrian Democratic Forces in combating terrorism and maintaining internal and international security.

The positions of these parties and deputies agreed in condemning the Turkish interventions and its aggression against the Syrian regions and people.

The delegation of the “SDC” spoke about the plight of the Syrian people and the region’s need for political and comprehensive resolutions during the accelerated deterioration and the complex crises suffered by the country due to the continuing state of political deadlock.

On a related note, the Council delegation explained the situation in the northern and eastern regions of Syria, the damage to infrastructure and the need to rehabilitate it and find quick resolutions for the water crisis controlled by Turkey and its mercenary factions that deprive more than a million Syrians of drinking water.

The Co-chairman of the Council, Riyadh Darrar, stressed the need to resolve the file of detainees of the ISIS terrorist organization members held in the prisons of the Autonomous Administration by international courts that should be established for this purpose.

The Council delegation explained their vision of the political resolution and the council’s efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Resolutions through internal Syrian dialogue and coming up with a common vision, and he stressed the need to involve representatives of the Syrian Democratic Council in meetings on the Syrian file and not exclude any other party.

In order to get a closer look at the reality of the regions of northern and eastern Syria and the Autonomous Administration project, these deputies and parties expressed their desire to accept the invitation and visit the region to get to know the field and political reality closely.
