A Workshop of the “SDC” with Women of the Parties in Manbij

Under the title “The Importance of Women’s Participation in Politics,” the Women’s Bureau, in cooperation with the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, held a workshop attended by women who are members of political parties in Manbij on Saturday at the Future Syria Party Center in the city.

Regarding the goal of the workshop, its evaluators spoke that it urges women to be empowered politically and to take the leading role equally with men.

The workshop included two themes. The first one dealt with the importance of women’s participation in political life, its levels and degrees of access, and the positive results it reflects on the individual and society.

Thubiyah Al-Nasser, the administrator of the Women’s Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, began the workshop by asking a question about the principle of democracy, as the female attendees explained it at length, so Al-Nasser noted that women’s participation in political life expresses the civilized advancement of countries and is a true embodiment of democracy.

The second theme included the obstacles that hinder women’s real participation in politics, as it varied this participation including legal, economic, social and others, as it was explained by Jiyan Mulla, a member of the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, and she also presented some local and international models of women who were at the forefront of politics and they excelled in this field.

At the end of the workshop, the attendees were divided into groups and a written training was offered on how to activate women’s participation in politics and it was presented suggestions and opinions, which made the workshop richer, in addition to the participations made by the women present.
