The Syrian Democratic Council

On the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the foundation, the Archbishop of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates congratulates the “SDC”

The Archbishop of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates, His Eminence the venerable Mar Maurice Amsih, congratulated the Syrian Democratic Council on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the establishment of the council and expressed his support for the participatory project led by “SDC”.

During his visit, the Syrian Democratic Council received the archbishop at the council’s headquarters in the city of Al-Hasakah, and he offered his congratulations to the council and praised the efforts of the council and its struggle for a united Syria which is hoped to be free of terrorism and extremism.

The Archbishop of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates expressed his rejection and fears at the same time that Turkey and its army would invade the regions of northern and eastern Syria and occupy other parts of the Syrian territory.

His Eminence said that he was deeply concerned about the Turkish statements that are trying to undermine the stability of the region, which is under the control of Autonomous Administration in which there is a state of familiarity and coexistence, and that the Syrian Democratic Forces have liberated the Syrian regions from the terrorism and extremism, as it was described by the archbishop.

The archbishop of Al-Jazeera and the Euphrates added that he sent a letter to the Vatican in which he spoke about their fears about the Turkish threats, Turkey’s movements in the region and its attempts to weaken all components and cause more suffering and pain to the Syrians.

For its part, the Syrian Democratic Council expressed its thanks for the visit of His Excellency the archbishop and that the members of the council highly appreciate the role of the clergy in maintaining the societal balance and their role in the political resolution that the council sees through the intra-Syrian dialogue by all its segments and components.
