The Syrian Democratic Council

Preparatory Meetings for SDC’s Relations within Framework of the National Pathر

The Relations Bureau met with a group of societal elites such as sheikhs, religious men, human rights and legal figures, in addition to political figures and representatives of the parties operating in Raqqa,
within the framework of the national work path
led by the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC).

The meetings dealt with a number of national constants and principles such as the neutrality of the state towards religion and ethnicity, the principle of nationalism and belonging, the unity of the territory and the Syrian ranks, and intensifying Syrian dialogues and unifying national powers and visions, regardless of their paths and differences.

The National Work Group prepared for the meetings in cooperation with the Relations Bureau of the Syrian Democratic Council, as Kamil al-Hazbar, a member of the Relations Bureau, touched on a number of constants that must be taken for granted in preserving the unity of the country’s territory and people.

The first of these meetings included imams and preachers of mosques in Raqqa and its countryside, in addition to members of the Religious Affairs Foundation, who agreed on the need to cooperate in building the homeland based on nationalism, religious and moral standards.

The second meeting was attended by judicial figures, human rights and legal figures, who affirmed that the only way to save the Syrians is through the implementation of Resolution 2254 as a demand for all Syrians, stressing the need to preserve the unity of Syrian territory, seek a peaceful resolution and establish a state of law, taking into account the principle of democracy and thus building a safe homeland.

The third meeting today was with representatives of the political parties operating in the city, in addition to the presence of independent political figures, members from the Green Idlib Council, participants from the coast and inside Syria via “Zoom” and Haytham Jamoul, Secretary-General of the Unified Syrian Republican Union.

The participants agreed on the importance of the national path, especially within this decisive stage and after the division of Syrian powers and its resulting impacts including divisions and tearing apart the Syrian fabric, where figures and political parties expressed their cooperation and support for it.

These preparatory meetings come with the aim of preparing for “the Raqqa National Meeting”, and the Relations Bureau will cooperate with the National Work Group to hold other meetings with women, youth, sheikhs and dignitaries belonging to Raqqa city and its countryside.

The National Work Group is an initiative by several figures from Raqqa city that seeks to create a societal Power through various elites to be as a mosaic capable of creating change and leading the national work.
