SDC’s Women’s Office organizes events on International Women’s Day

The Women’s Office of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) in Aleppo held a dialogue seminar under the slogan “Syrian Women are the Safety and Guarantee of the New Syria”. That seminar was as part of the events organized by the Women’s Office on the International Women’s Day which marks on March 8 each year.

The seminar was attended by Jihan Khedro, Chairwoman of the Women’s Office, along with representatives from political parties, women’s organizations, and prominent Syrian women.

Khedro delivered the opening speech of the seminar, during which she announced the national strategy for empowering and leading Syrian women in 2024 and 2025.

The seminar discussed the struggles of Syrian women, ways to address the Syrian crisis, and the crucial role of women in achieving the democratic transition. It resulted in several recommendations and outcomes, emphasizing the need to empower women politically and economically, enhance their roles in decision-making, intensify their efforts to ensure a fair future for Syria and emphasize UN resolutions related to women’s rights.

Furthermore, many matters were highlighted by the participants of the seminar such as the implementing of the family law as an internal program within Syria. Also, working on establishing specialized legal committees for women, and Aleppo should play a vital role in achieving democracy and the effective participation of Syrian women. Additionally, the need for all occupying forces, notably the Turkish occupation, to withdraw from Syrian territories.

The Women’s Office organized two lectures in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli on the International Women’s Day for an elite group of women extending congratulations and presenting flowers to them.

As part of supporting women, the Women’s Office conducted a series of visits in Raqqa to the Internal Security Forces (Women’s Asayish), the center for children with diabetes, and the House of wounded. The Office presented flowers and commemorative photos of female martyrs for them.

The visiting delegation included administrators and members of the Women’s Office in Raqqa. They emphasized that the purpose of these visits is to boost morale, extend congratulations and blessings for these institutions and all Syrian women as a whole.

In a related context, a women’s delegation of the SDC in Aleppo visited the Council of Martyrs’ Families, the Women’s Asayish and the Community Protection Forces. They presented honor shields on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, as an appreciation for women’s efforts and struggles.

The women’s delegation, led by Khedro, included members from the Aleppo Office. They extended their congratulations to these institutions in celebration of the International Women’s Day.

Khedro also congratulated the women in the Council of Martyrs’ Families and the Women’s Asayish. She highlighted the significant gains made by women in various fields, including the military one, where they now play a vital role in managing women’s affairs and exert a powerful influence on the Syrian society.

These series of events organized by the Women’s Office reaffirm the importance of women’s struggle and the necessity to escalate their efforts.
